TUSUR and Indonesian Partners Launch the Russia-Indonesia Science Week

From October 28 to November 1, TUSUR University and its two partner universities from Indonesia will be holding the first Russia-Indonesia Science Week where some of their leading researchers will deliver lectures for online audiences.

In 2023, TUSUR co-organized the launch of the University of Tomsk office in Indonesia, paving the way for new initiatives in science and education for partners in Tomsk and Indonesia.

“Two Indonesian universities – the Bandung Institute of Technology and the University of Nusa Cedana – have expressed their interest in cooperation with TUSUR. As a way of exploring each other’s scientific and academic profile, we have agreed to organize the first Russia-Indonesia Science Week where some of our professors would deliver lectures on some of the research topics that we specialize on. They will be available for students and faculty from TUSUR and the two Indonesian universities,” said the Head of the Division of International Cooperation Maria Afanasyeva.

The Science Week will be inviting its audiences to two lectures daily. TUSUR will be represented by its faculty members Anton Perin, Yulia Loboda, Denis Pakhmurin, Alexey Soldatov, Maria Salnikova and Hashem Khaled Rehab, who will be talking about their areas of expertise: mechatronics and robotics, telecommunications, photonics and optoinformatics, and medical technology.

“This week will be a scientific getting-to-know event for all three of the participating universities and will lay the groundwork for any future projects”, said Maria Afanasyeva. “We have also decided to complement the purely scientific agenda of the Week with an overview lesson of Russian for Indonesian students, with the hopes of inspiring them to pursue internship or dual degree opportunities at TUSUR sometime in the future.”

TUSUR and its Indonesian partners have already agreed to organize their next joint event – a two-week winter school on microelectronics, to be held later this year.
